How Your Chiropractor Addresses Microtrauma Before Injury

Most pain isn't caused by one big event. It's the accumulation of small, repeated stresses your body never got to recover from.

Microtrauma is the medical term for small tissue damage that falls below the threshold of pain. Picked up alone, it heals. Repeated daily without recovery - sitting in the same posture, swinging a golf club the same way, scrolling on your phone - it accumulates into something you do feel.

How we identify the pattern early

During an exam we look for joints that have lost their normal motion, muscles that have started compensating, and tissue tone changes that hint at chronic load. These findings show up weeks or months before pain does. That's the window where care is fastest and cheapest.

What treatment looks like at this stage

  • Targeted adjustments to restore segmental motion.
  • Soft tissue work on the overworking muscles (ART, IASTM, percussion).
  • Two or three corrective exercises specific to your imbalance.
  • A short ergonomic review of the activity that's loading you.
